Fruity perfume can be bright and sparkling, juicy and playful, dark and seductive or surprisingly sophisticated. The difference lies in both the fruit itself and what the perfumer puts around it. Berries, pear, peach, fig, citrus and tropical fruits all behave very differently in a fragrance.

How do you choose a fruity perfume?

If you want something fresh rather than sweet, look for fruit combined with citrus, green notes, tea or airy florals. Berries and darker fruits often create a richer, juicier effect, particularly alongside amber or woods. Creamy notes and vanilla push fruit towards gourmand territory.

Fig is an especially interesting example: a fig perfume may evoke the sweet fruit, but it can also smell green, leafy, woody or milky depending on whether the composition is inspired by the fruit, leaves, tree or sap.

Choose a fruity perfume if you enjoy: bright and expressive scents, berries, pear, fig, citrus, playful florals or fragrances that feel immediately inviting.
